Dengue Fever

PKD ( Petaling District Health Office) informed that the current hotspot is Shah Alam and have been so for a few months now. Please be aware of your surroundings and keep your areas free of mosquito breeding sites.
Please see your doctor for a check up if you have any symtoms of ;
fever
chills
headache and/or bodyache
fatigue
rashes
bleeding gums
nausea and/or vomiting
joint pain.

Please check for mosquito breeding sites in your home to protect you and your loved ones from dengue fever.

Discard your rubbish properly. Do not leave open containers, tyres, coconut husks lying around.
Clear your drains of fallen leaves to prevent stagnant water.
Clear blockages in roof gutters regularly, e.g. monthly.
Turn over all pails and water storage containers when not in use. Cover these containers when in use.

Change water in flower vases every other day.
Remove water from flowerpot plates every other day.
Wear long sleeved shirts, long pants/ skirts when going outdoors in the evenings to prevent mosquito bites.

Close windows and doors in the evenings or put up netting on your windows to prevent mosquito from coming into your home.

Selangor executive councilor for health, Dr Xavier Jayakumar said that there were 4 strains of dengue in Malaysia and the disease was no longer considered a seasonal problem because of changing weather patterns. He said mosquito eggs could last up to 6 months and hatch when water becomes available.
