Shyness

Shyness often stems from a lack of self -confidence and
from too much attachement to formalities and social conventions. We are prisoners of self -image we wish to present to others. Our behaviour then becomes artificial and our natural tendencies can sometimes remind us of this quite forcefully. When we have an urgent need to empty our bladder, we can pretend for a while that all is welll but we cannot let the situaltion go on too long!

Shyness can also be a means of self-protection and an indication that we are too self-conscious. But, paradoxically, the more we protect ourselves the less self-confident we are and the more shy we become. On the other hand, the more we open to others and show love and compassion, the less we are obsessed with ourselves and the more confident we become.
